If we have to give a Self Introduction then it is very simple that we have to say something about ourselves, but to whom are we giving our Self Introduction? This is very crucial to understand because depending on the listener we have to present our Self Introduction. Here to be talked about in a little brief, we have to understand that there are two types of Self-introduction.

They are the following:-
Informal Introduction & Formal Introduction

Let us know about the Informal Introduction before discussing the Formal Introduction. When we speak to our friends, relatives, and other nonofficial persons then these types of conversations are called Informal or Unofficial conversion because there is no time bound to say something to others about ourselves. We can continue to speak to other people to get more and more acquaintances as long as we wish to continue until we feel bored with the other person.

Now let us talk about the Formal Introduction. It is just not like how we present our Informal Introduction. Here we speak to official persons, that is why Formal Communication is also known as Official Communication. When we present our Introduction to a business client that is known as a Formal Introduction and when we go for the Interview before the Interviewer we present our introduction which is also a Formal introduction. Here in a Formal introduction, we must not present a long Self-introduction to the listeners because the persons, to whom we are speaking, do not have enough time to listen to a single person. So during the Formal Introduction, we must be very specific about our details while speaking to someone. In the formal introduction, we have to give an impactful introduction, in which we have to say our most important qualities in a few sentences along with our brief details.

Before learning the Formal Introduction, we have to learn Informal Introduction because Informal Introduction improves our speaking ability, it helps us to speak longer as there is no time limit or content restriction in this type of Instruction. It includes Name, Address, Education, Family Background, Hobby, Emotional Attachment, and Goal of Life and it may include other information.

The above example of the Self Introduction can be considered as a Formal Introduction but it is not suitable for the Interview for any job because you are saying about your Goal of Life, you want to be a businessman. You may be asked by the Interviewer that, if you want to do business then why have you applied for this job?

The above example of the Self Introduction can be considered as the Formal Introduction but it is suitable for the Interview of such a job which is related to medicine because you are saying about your Goal of Life, you want to get hired for a job in the field of medical science. Therefore; if you have your knowledge and skills in any other field then you have to say accordingly about your Goal in Life and you have to apply for the specific job role.

Take a Note: If you have applied for the sales job then you cannot say that you want to be a successful accountant. You have to present your Introduction depending on the post and job role that you are applying for regardless of your actual desire and skills.

The above example of the Self Introduction can be considered as the Formal Introduction but it is not suitable for the Interview for any job because you are talking about your Goal of Life, you want to extend our family business. You may be asked by the Interviewer that, if you would like to extend our family business then why have you come here for this Interview?

The above example of the Self Introduction can be considered as the Formal Introduction but it is only suitable for the Interview for any Government job because you are saying about your Goal of Life, you want to hold a position in the Government sector. If you applied in a Private Organization then you may be asked by the Interviewer that, if you would like to do a Government job then why have you applied in a Private sector?

The above example of the Self Introduction can be considered as the Formal Introduction but you cannot say that your dream is to do acting in movies or serials. If you show your interest in another field that is not related to the post or the job role that you are applying for then there is a strong possibility that you will not be accepted for that post.

The above example of the Self Introduction can only be considered as an Informal Introduction but not as a Formal Introduction because this Introduction has been presented in detail about your family members and relation with your family members and Educational Qualification with other irrelevant details. This candidate is an experienced one but her field of expertise has not been focused on. The Interviewer does not have enough time to listen to your family details and the information which are printed on your resume because they have read your resume long before you entered the Interview room.

Now, let us discuss the formal or Official Introduction. We have already discussed earlier that Official Introductions are brief and specific and it depends, on whom you are speaking to and for what we are speaking to. Generally, we present the Formal Introduction in the Interview before the Interviewer. The Formal Self Introduction can be further subdivided into two categories, they are as follows:-

The Introduction for the Fresher Candidate and that of the Experienced Candidate.

The Self Introduction for both candidates must not be the same because the Fresher candidate does not have any working experience but the experienced candidate has the working experience. Therefore the experienced candidate needs to talk about the experiences and challenges; that are being overcome during the working period.

Note:- One thing is to remember that neither the experienced candidate nor the fresher candidate should present the introduction in the same way as it is written in the resume because the Interviewer has gone through those resumes long before the candidates enter the Interview panel. While speaking to the Interviewer you must not present your introduction like a robot. Do not memorize the Introduction as the script, rather understand the way of presentation and say it yourself in your own words and put a balanced expression to it.
